Sodexo

Why might potential employees find Sodexo's content engaging?

Potential employees might find Sodexo’s content engaging because it is geared specifically toward them, potential job seekers. The site features helpful information regarding interviewing strategies, resume pointers, and useful organizational skills (Trish Freshwater, 2012).

Sodexo is smart in using content that will be of most use to their target audience because it increases the likelihood that the user will return to the site at some point.

In what ways is Sodexo using social media to reach their target audiences?

Sodexo seems to use their Twitter feed to urge followers to the resources on the Sodexo blog and follow the people in different positions they recruit for (Chef’s, Housekeeping Managers, etc.). Sodexo tries to showcase their exciting work environment and the variety of opportunities that exist within their organization.

The Sodexo Facebook page references all of their various social media sites (You Tube, their blog, and job postings). The main difference between their Facebook and Twitter sites is that their Facebook has more imagery than their Twitter.

When you only have three seconds or less to make an impression on a user, images can really make a positive difference (Yahoo!, 2012).

I did not notice if Sodexo utilized Linked In. Linked In is a great resource for job seekers and it would be good for Sodexo to have a presence there to search for potential candidates.

How might Sodexo measure the effectiveness of their individual social networks.

The effectiveness of Sodexo’s social media efforts needs to be weighed based on the goals they want to achieve. If the goal of their social media is to increase the number of applications they receive month after month, then they need to inquire as part of the application process (survey).
If Sodexo’s goal is to create brand awareness via an increase of likes on their Facebook page, then they need to set a target of likes, create and implement a strategy to make that happen, and measure its effectiveness over a period of time.
